Keeping Our Children Safe Online

Children today grow up in a digital world, full of amazing opportunities to learn, create, and stay connected with family and friends. While this digital life can be exciting and fun, it’s important to remember that, just like the real world, there are risks too.

As parents and carers, you play a key role in helping your children stay safe online and develop the skills and confidence they need to navigate the digital world.

If you have any questions, worries, or simply want some advice about online safety, please do get in touch with the school. You can also click the image below to explore ‘Think You Know’, a brilliant resource with guidance and activities for children of all ages.

How You Can Support the School in Online Safety

Parents and carers play a vital role in helping the school keep children safe online. You can support us by:

  • Encouraging safe use of technology: Support the school in promoting online safety, including how pupils use the Internet and how the school uses photographs and videos.
  • Agreeing to school rules: Read, sign, and promote the Pupil Acceptable Use Agreement, and encourage your child to follow it.
  • Communicating concerns: Speak to the school if you have any concerns about your child’s or other children’s use of technology.
  • Modelling positive behaviour: Promote safe, responsible, and positive online behaviour in your own use of technology, including social media. Avoid using the Internet or social networks inappropriately or in ways that could be defamatory.
  • Respecting privacy: Support the school’s approach to online safety by not uploading or sharing images, videos, or information about others without permission, and avoid posting anything that could upset, offend, or threaten the safety of anyone in the school community or damage the school’s reputation.
