At Ribchester St. Wilfrid’s, we provide a safe and supportive environment where every child can thrive. Our aim is simple: to nurture a love of learning, build confidence and prepare children to be ambitious for their futures.
Our curriculum is broad and creative, combining the National Curriculum. This allows us to deliver learning through exciting topics, hands-on experiences, trips and enrichment opportunities. We want children to have fun, discover their talents and leave school with happy memories.
Alongside academic subjects, we place great importance on developing life skills, resilience and strong values.
Every child’s progress is carefully monitored so that teaching can be tailored to their individual needs. Our goal is for all children to reach their full potential, both personally and academically, and to feel ready for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Our School Values and the Curriculum
At Ribchester St Wilfrid’s, our vision is to live and grow together as a loving church school family, celebrating each child’s individuality. Rooted in our shared Christian values of friendship, respect, courage, perseverance, thankfulness and trust, we provide a bespoke and innovative curriculum that empowers every child to flourish with the knowledge and skills they need for life. When planning and delivering lessons, teachers intentionally reflect on the Christian values most relevant to each unit of work, ensuring they are lived out in meaningful and practical ways. Our aim is to nurture positive attitudes towards learning, ourselves as unique individuals, and the wider community to which we all belong.
British Values
Within our curriculum and our general ethos, attention is also given to the development of positive attitudes to democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance towards those with differing faiths and lifestyles. Teachers give attention to these specific areas when planning and delivering units of work. All adults in school promote these values when working individually and when interacting with colleagues in all contexts.

Withdrawal from Religious Education (RE) Lessons
Religious Education (RE) is an important part of our curriculum, designed to help pupils develop respect, understanding, and appreciation for different beliefs and cultures. It encourages critical thinking, promotes tolerance, and supports personal development in a diverse society.
However, parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from RE lessons, either wholly or in part. If you wish to exercise this right, please contact the school office in writing so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
We welcome open conversations and encourage families to discuss any concerns with us before making a decision, as RE provides valuable opportunities for learning and personal growth.
Our Music Curriculum – Learning Through Charanga
At our school, we believe music is for everyone! We use the Charanga Musical School program to make music learning fun, engaging, and accessible for all children from Reception to Year 6. Charanga follows the National Curriculum and helps children develop skills in singing, playing instruments, listening, composing, and performing.
What does this look like in practice?
- Weekly music lessons for every class, using exciting songs and activities.
- Children learn to sing confidently, play instruments like glockenspiels and recorders, and even create their own music.
- We explore music from different cultures and styles, from classical to pop, so every child experiences a wide variety of sounds.
Beyond the classroom:
- We have singing assemblies, a school choir and choir church, as well as opportunities to perform at school events and in the community.
- Children can take part in instrumental lessons through our local Music Hub.
Inclusion and Support:
Every child is unique, and we make sure music is accessible to all. We adapt lessons for individual needs and welcome parents and carers to talk to us about how we can support their child. Our open-door policy means we’re always here to listen and work together.
Music is more than a subject—it’s a way to build confidence, creativity, and joy. We can’t wait to share the journey with you!
