Christian Values & Ethos
Jesus said: “Love one another as I have loved you.” This is the guiding principle at the heart of St Wilfrid’s. We are a supportive school family, and in seeking to love God, we show care for one another, for our work, and for ourselves.
At St Wilfrid’s, every day and every experience matters. We walk alongside each child on their journey, nurturing their academic, personal and spiritual growth. Our aim is for every child to flourish—to achieve their very best, to discover their God-given gifts, and to strive for success from the very first day they join our school family.
We want our children to leave St Wilfrid’s with confidence, kindness, and a lifelong love of learning that will stay with them wherever life takes them.
As a school community, we have chosen six Christian values to focus on: friendship, respect, courage, perseverance, thankfulness and trust. We believe that we can truly “let our light shine” when these values are lived out in our daily actions. These core values underpin our school culture and shape our rich, inspiring curriculum. Combined with passion, a sense of wonder and high expectations, they capture the essence of Ribchester St Wilfrid’s.
Our Aims and Values
At our school, we believe that every individual is unique and valued for the special contribution they bring. We strive to create a community where everyone feels confident to participate fully in school life, with continual opportunities to build self-esteem and celebrate achievement.
We aim to provide a broad, balanced and creative curriculum that is challenging, exciting and enjoyable, while ensuring that every child has equal access to learning opportunities. Children are encouraged to develop a lifelong love of learning that reaches beyond the classroom.
We seek to:
- Foster a happy and caring atmosphere that promotes mutual respect, tolerance, open-mindedness, and awareness of others’ needs in our multi-cultural society.
- Provide opportunities for co-operation, teamwork, trust, and the development of positive relationships.
- Ensure a safe, secure and supportive learning environment that inspires confidence in both children and parents.
- Offer varied, first-hand learning experiences to nurture lively, enquiring and imaginative minds.
- Recognise and celebrate each child’s individual abilities and talents, ensuring equal access to the curriculum.
- Strengthen home–school links by working in close partnership with parents and carers.
- Support children’s physical, mental, social and spiritual growth, guided by Christian teaching and values.
- Encourage independence, responsibility and opportunities for children to direct aspects of their own learning, preparing them for adult life.
- Build positive relationships with the church, local community and wider society.
- Provide learning that connects with real life, making it purposeful, meaningful and inspiring.
