At Ribchester St Wilfrid’s, we use the Primary PE and Sport Premium funding to enhance the quality and breadth of our PE and sports provision, ensuring that all children benefit from improved opportunities to develop their physical skills, confidence, and enjoyment of physical activity.
Staff Training and Coaching
- Children have been introduced to a range of new sports, with staff receiving training to sustain these activities in the future.
- Afterschool clubs in Netball, Football, Multiskills and Basketball have been delivered to help children prepare for school tournaments and develop teamwork and coordination.
- Training for teachers in physical development has been enhanced.
- Safety guidelines for PE have been updated and are in place.
- We have employed our own school sports coach to further develop the provision of PE and sport across the school.
- Bikeabillity sessions have been provided to all children from pre-school to Year 6.
Partnerships and Enrichment
- We are working with Edstart Sports Coaching to provide children with enhanced weekly PE sessions, ensuring a broad and engaging curriculum.
- Through our partnership with Progressive Sports, pupils enjoy exciting enrichment opportunities in areas they may be new to — such as archery, fencing, glow-in-the-dark dodgeball, Nerf wars, and many more!
- We are also working with KidzFit, who deliver sessions designed to give children a deeper understanding of healthy lifestyles and the importance of staying active.
Supply Costs
Funding has allowed staff to attend high-quality training opportunities to improve their practice and knowledge.
Resources
- Investment in better quality equipment to replace old or worn-out resources for PE lessons and after-school sessions.
- Balance bike training has given children the confidence to ride without stabilisers.
- Outdoor provision for Reception children has been enhanced to support their physical development.
Competition Costs
- Funding has supported pupils to take part in local and regional competitions, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship.
Transport
- Funding has enabled pupils to travel to competitions further afield, broadening their sporting experiences.
Storage
- Improved storage solutions have made PE equipment more accessible and easier to organise.
