At Ribchester St Wilfrid’s, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is our highest priority. We are committed to working in partnership with children, families, and external agencies to ensure that all pupils are safe, well cared for, and able to thrive in a secure and supportive environment.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Katie Isherwood (Headteacher), and the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (Deputy DSL) is Emma Taylor (Assistant Headteacher).
Safeguarding procedures at St Wilfrid’s CE Primary School are underpinned by three key principles:
- Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility – All staff, governors, and volunteers play a vital role in keeping children safe and protecting them from abuse, neglect, and other safeguarding concerns.
- A child-centred approach – We place the needs, wishes, views, and voices of children at the heart of all safeguarding and child protection decisions.
- Clarity, knowledge, and action – All staff, governors, and volunteers have a clear understanding of abuse and neglect in all its forms, including how to identify, respond to, and report concerns. This also includes a secure understanding of procedures relating to allegations against professionals.
If you have any concerns regarding the safety or welfare of a child, please contact the school immediately. All concerns will be taken seriously and managed in line with statutory safeguarding procedures. You can contact the school via the main office 01254 878300 or by emailing head@ribchester-st-wilfrids.
